just use a private authorized repair center and they will hook you up! they also service all of your tools when one needs attention, and do things like replace parts that are not worn out yet, but are known to wear out like trigger switches. i had my 12 volt batteries replaced and upgraded from the originals that came with the kits. they replaced batteries on that too and would have been over 200$. this was true with my 24 volt ridgid 500 inch pound drill too. just use the auxiliary handle and hold it near your body for best control. never had ice my 6" lazer couldn't cut with ease. "free batteries for life" is part of their ad campaign. I have had numerous ridgid batteries replaced and always hassle free and no cost. Their brushless gen5x brushless 700 inch pounds would not be an upgrade from their 780 inch pounds brushed gen5x drill tho. Put the handle on the drill and if you have an auger made for a drill skip the clam plate. Home Depot had an offer for extra battery for $20 more. I didn't want to overwork the Hitachi's so i bought the Milwaukee 2703-22. Planning a trip to NE South Dakota this year where hole hopping is the norm. Granted our ice was only 8-14 inches where i was. I used the drill extensively last year in Iowa, I could get 16-20 holes per battery.

I use the crap out of drills and drivers at home and so I keep two sets. I am talking medium sized drill too, I already had two sets of the $159 Hitachi drill and driver sets in 18v when I bought the auger. My Nils 6 inch Orange auger works just fine with a 18v Hitachi drill, just like the one in the picture on the Nils box. I don't think you need the pounding action it would put on the blade, especially if you have blade made for a drill.
